Giclee prints by Patrick Gannon for sale on Shack29.com image

Unfortunately, Shack29 is no longer able to offer prints of my work. Thanks to all who bought a print! I hope that it brings you much enjoyment.

The great folks at Shack29 are offering giclee prints of four of my images for sale now. I’m in great company too, with some amazing art by people like Scott Saw and Alberto Cerriteno standing shoulder to shoulder with mine. It’s flattering. Best of all, the prints are very economical at £9.99 each (that’s about $20 US…everyone else is gonna have to do their own math).

So…what are you waiting for? Go! Go!

汚れつちまつた悲しみ cut-paper art

汚れつちまつた悲しみに…     UPON THE SADNESS ALL SMEARED UP..

汚れつちまつた悲しみに            Upon the sadness all smeared up,
今日も小雪の降りかかる            Another sprinkling day of snow.
汚れつちまつた悲しみに            Upon the sadness all smeared up,
今日も風さへ吹きすぎる            Another day the winds will blow.

汚れつちまつた悲しみは             Sadness that’s been all smeared up,
たとへば狐の革裘〔かはごろも〕 Might compare to the pelt of fox.
汚れつちまつた悲しみは             Sadness that’s been all smeared up,
小雪のかかつてちぢこまる          In the flurry of snow, cringing down. Read the rest of this entry »

A Welcome Messenger cut-paper artThe July/August issue of Create Magazine just slammed into newsstands with a cover chock-full of papery goodness. And a hummingbird.

The Create folks did a great job putting the cover together, and were a whole lot of fun to work with. Go here to see the original artwork and click the magnifier for full, eye-popping biggitude.

A Void Discovery cut-paper artThe tricky part about drawing “discovery” isn’t that I didn’t have any ideas. It’s that there are infinite possibilities. Physical, historical, emotional, internal, external, sexual, intellectual. Everything from that first peak out of the womb to that final, undiscovered country. Read the rest of this entry »

LongSky cut-paper artThere are two things that amaze me about the human brain. The first is that the one thing which is solely responsible for our continued survival and evolution as a species is a soft, squishy, pink-grey blob of squiggles. As opposed to, say, sharp fangs or claws (possibly poisonous) or chunky armored skin. All of which seem, on first glance much more useful for self-defense. Not to mention cool. Cloud Website Update cut-paper ImageA year in the making, the all-new, vastly improved, 100% cloudier PGannon.com Portfolio Website is uploaded, online, and running! Hopefully well.

Of course, when I say it was “a year in the making”, I don’t actually mean I worked on the site for a full year, deliberating on each teensy detail until the capillaries in my forehead throbbed with concentration. What it really means is that, almost exactly one year ago I looked at the old site, wrinkled my nose, then dug into real work with deadlines and stuff. About 6 months after that, I had some free time and nailed down a basic design that I liked. Then another work avalanche separated me from my dream of digital beauty. Not that I’m complaining. A code-warrior I am not. Read the rest of this entry »

LongSky cut-paper artHere’s something I don’t do very often: a land skyscape. Or half of one, in any case. Click here or on the image to see the whole long, skinny piece.

In a twist on my usual process, I pretty much made this up as I went along, starting with just the basic idea and adding whatever felt right at the moment. I don’t know if it’s a process I’ll revisit often. I don’t like to plan my life out (don’t ask me what I’m doing next weekend, ‘cuz I’m sure I don’t know). My art though, that’s a whole different kettle of fish. I have strategy. I have plans of attack.

Which leaves me with that most wicked question: Is this done? I’ve got to admit, I like the clouds. But there’s a big part of me that wants to do more, maybe add a few members of my odd menagerie to the mix. Maybe stir in a concept or a theme. Got an opinion? I’d love to hear it!*

To see the wide open sky!

*artists’ disclaimer: …but in the end I’ll selfishly and megalomaniacally do whatever I want (unless you’re a client, of course). My wife will maim me over this someday.
