Hi Patrick,

You've been busy--lots of great work. The knot on the tail reminded me of the celtic knot you did with the beards of Loki and the goat.

Looks like things are going well for you. Hope you have another great year in 2009.

The stuff about the cutting of the tails is a folk myth....in Japan there really is a tendency for cats to have bobtails. Japan is source of one of two tailless cat breeds in the world; the other is the Isle of Man off the coast of England.

Hi everyone! Thank you all for your very kind comments, and welcome to everyone from http://www.artistaday.com! Sorry it took so long to post my thoughts here...I got sideswiped by a few things that needed taking care of (some art-related, some not). In any case, I really appreciate all of your thoughts and kindness!

Paper Pictures - This particular piece really fought me for some reason. I don't know exactly how long it took, but probably the better part of 4 days (just the papery part). That's pretty unusual for a smallish piece. Of course, I had a couple other things I was working on during that time too, so it's tough to say. But definitely longer than I expected it to. Some pieces are like that.

Bridget, Roger and Martha - Giant-sized Thank you! I will continue trying to be worthy of the high praise.

Daisy - Yeah, it took me ages to figure out about the short-tailed cats. Nobody wanted to tell me the truth. I just got a bunch of non-answers. Superstition is so weird and funny.

Very cool! I often wondered that myself; I remember seeing many tailless cats in Japan as well; now I know! Crazy!

: D Love the mythology and the imagery together- makes for a great piece!
