Better than a thousand hollow words, is one word that brings peace.
-Hindu Prince Gautama Siddharta, the founder of Buddhism

Substitute the word “touch” for “word” and you begin to see the starting point for this piece.

Actually… while there is a lengthy and, I think, beautiful story behind “Your Touch” I would like to be a little selfish and keep it for myself. At least for a little while longer. Which leaves you, dear reader, with the chance to pour your own meaning or story into the piece, filling up that hollowness. If the mood strikes you, leave your interpretation in the comments below. It’s always cool to see my work through other people’s eyes.

I’ll be huddling in the corner over here, whispering, “My precioussssssssss”.

“Your Touch, It Does Something to Me”, can be seen right now in San Francisco’s Gallery 1988 “Battle Royal” group show, until July 18, 2009.

Roberto Bolaño, chilean writer, author of ‘2666′ (if you have the stomach for 900 pages of outrageous writing and the time, it’s highly recommended). This is a little excerpt on art from a short story, ‘Dentist’ from his collection of short stories “Last Evenings on Earth”…
“…I tried to point out that what had happened was an incident in his life story, not an episode in art history…my friend hit the roof…But that’s where art comes from, he said: life stories. Art history comes along only much later. That’s what art is, he said, the story of a life in all its particularity. It’s the only thing that really is particular and personal. It’s the expression of and, at the same time, the fabric of the particular…What I mean is the secret story….every single damn thing matters! Only we don’t realize. We just tell ourselves that art runs on one track and life, our lives, on another, and we don’t realize that’s a lie.” Great stuff, Bolaño is phenomenal, excuse me was. You artists and writers are a wonder and a curiosity. Continue creating and sharing. Art history in the making! Posted this else where, but it seems more appropriate here. So jealous of the patron that purchased this piece; love the “moon face”.

I couldn’t agree more. Art is just a reflection of what happens in life. A twisted, stylized reflection, but a reflection nonetheless. Thanks!

A patron, eh? Geez, I could really use one of those; an old-school patron. Where’s a Medici when you need one.

      Hi Carl-
Actually, it’s I who should be thanking you! Not only do I appreciate your compliments, but without you and folks like you there would be no way for me to commit so much time to my artwork. So, thank you! I hope “Your Touch” brings you years of enjoyment.
