My first solo cut paper art show Night of the Yokai – Patrick Gannonの摩訶不思議な切絵展」opened Monday, October 25, 2010 and I couldn’t be happier with the way everything turned out. Alot of folks have been asking me when I’ll be at the gallery, so I’ve put together a schedule of the Gallery’s hours and events and my own plans Thanks for being so patient!

Gallery Schedule :

Exhibition Dates: Mon. October 25, 2010 – Sun. November 7, 2010
Gallery Cafe Enyen is usually* open everyday from 11:30 – 23:00.

• Saturday October 30: 19:00-21:00 Night of the Yokai Halloween Party (reservation only). Gallery closed from 18:00~
• Sunday October 31: 15:00-17:00 Mother & Children Halloween Workshop – closed to the general public! 17:00~ Halloween Night Event! Gallery open to the public: ¥1500entry fee / free entry with a Halloween Costume http://www.enyen.jp/style/?p=623
• Saturday November 6: 15:00-17:00 closed for workshop
• Sunday November 7: On the last day, the Gallery will close at 17:00

*Enyen occasionally rents out the space for private parties, so feel free to check with them by phone ( 03-3453-4021 ) or URL: http://enyen.jp/

• 10月30日（土）19:00ー21:00はカフェを貸し切ってハロウィンパーティを開催します。パーティに参加予約した方以外は18:00以降入店できません。
• 10月31日（日）はカフェ主催のハロウィン親子ワークショップのため15:00ー17:00まで参加予約した方以外は入店できません。17:00以降はカフェ主催で誰でも参加OKの「ハロウィン仮装ナ イト」イベントが開催されます（http://www.enyen.jp/style/?p=598）。
• 11月6日（土）はカフェ主催のワークショップのため15:00-17:00まで参加予約された方以外は入店できません。
• 11月7日（日）17：00以降は貸切イベントのため入店できません。

To celebrate our first solo cut-paper art show, we’re throwing a party, and we hope that all of you (and your friends and family) can join us!

The festivities start at 7:00pm on October 30th, and include a few courses of food and an all-you-can-drink menu. Feel free to invite guests, the more the merrier. And, seeing as it is a Halloween Party, it would be cool if you wear a costume (but don’t worry, we’d love you to come either way).

Reservations are required, as space is limited. Please join on Facebook or email me to RSVP.

We’ve also got special original cocktail drink tickets for the first 10 people to RSVP (and a couple extra gifts we’ll be giving away during the night).

Just in time for Halloween, we’re letting the yokai out to wander the streets and haunt the cafes of Azabujuban. Yokai are uniquely creepy, quirky beasts that roam the Japanese nights, frightening, tricking, and occasionally falling in love with us mere mortals. Mixing them in with the vengeful ghosts and the Shinto spirits adds up to a very active supernatural nightlife.

It’s no surprise, then, that I am drawn to these lost souls and creatures as ways to expand on the themes in my cut-paper artwork. For the past few years, I’ve been slowly building my menagerie. And now I’m ready to loose them onto an unsuspecting populace. Or, rather, a suspecting one, seeing as I’m telling you about it right now.

I’m thrilled to announce my first solo show, Night of the Yokai – Patrick Gannonの摩訶不思議な切絵展. Aside from the cut-paper work I’ve been evolving over the past couple years, I’m also experimenting with some very big new twists on paper art. I sincerely hope that all of you can join me in discovering the haunted (and often hilarious) myths and stories of Japan (and forgive me for twisting and squeezing them into my themes of human spirituality and emotion).

Oh yeah, and there’s gonna be a Halloween Party Saturday October 30. Space is limited so reservations are required (!) I’ll post a separate blog about that soon!
